Simplify Your Camping Meals with Souper Cubes — Featuring Filipino Chicken Adobo

written Alyssa R.

Good food enhances every outdoor adventure. Whether we’re exploring coastal trails or setting up camp under the stars, meals make the most delicious part of the journey. Our kids have their favorites like PB+J sandwiches, but one dish that always brings comfort and nostalgia is Filipino Chicken Adobo—a recipe that’s been a staple in our family for generations.

Why Filipino Chicken Adobo?

Chicken Adobo isn’t just a meal; it’s a taste of home and heritage. Its savory, tangy flavors are perfect for warming up those cool summer nights around the campfire. The best part? With a little preparation and the right tools, you can enjoy this delicious dish even on the go.

The Hack: Using Souper Cubes

One of our secrets to enjoying homemade meals on the road is using Souper Cubes. These innovative silicone trays allow us to pre-make and freeze our favorite dishes like Chicken Adobo and rice. Here’s how we do it:

1. Preparation: After cooking and cooling the adobo and rice, we portion them into Souper Cubes trays and freeze them.

2. Storage: Once frozen, we transfer the cubes into a large reusable freezer bag. For longer storage, we keep them in our Dometic drawer fridge on maximum setting or in our Yeti cooler with plenty of ice.

3. On the Road: The frozen cubes stay solidified for up to two days, making them perfect for that first night’s meal at camp. Simply thaw and reheat for a taste of home wherever you roam.

Why Souper Cubes?

Souper Cubes aren’t just convenient—they’re a game-changer for camp cooking. Their sturdy design and tight-sealing lids ensure our meals stay fresh and organized, whether in the camper or packed in our backpacks for a day hike. Plus, they’re dishwasher safe and reusable, aligning perfectly with our commitment to sustainability in outdoor living.
